In the ocean of choices, this is my favorite, bc its has all the right things, with one dislike at the end: this is 100% cotton, and for its perfect weight of about 8oz fabric, it's both light weight (perfect for regular training) and also feels / looks like a real gi. The reinforced seams on the sleeves and pants are awesome, many rows and strong. Not one or 2 floppy rows. The fabric is crisp and not droopy like a cotton polly blend. The jacket is long enough and won't slide up under your belt, feels right (and not like the photo of the woman). The pants have traditional drawstring and loops; not elastic belt, which fits perfectly since the loops are in the right place. The string is a wide fabric ribbon and not a skinny flimsy cord, plenty long and strong. The gusset is great and roomy, and the pants are not too wide and huge or too long. I'm 6'2, slim athletic build but some love handles, and I ordered the size 5 instead of size 6, (ordering 1 size down, not according to chart) and it fits perfectly. The sleeves are just below wrist, the pants are just at the ankle bone, and I will only wash on cold, hang dry after high spin. Don't buy the correct size and wash/ dry on high thinking that's correct. Your gi will shrink, not be crisp, will look like a wrinkled rag, will become disproportionate, and fall apart early. Note: this is an "american" gi. The same size or fit "japanese gi" will have shorter sleeves and pants legs, so if you want that, you'll either have to import / buy an expensive tokaido 10oz, or have to tailor this. I have both and think this gi looks "sharp" yet roomy enough to be completely practical, breathable, while having a more "serious" or elegant appearance and good snap. Downside: this is a white gi, not off-white, BUT ALMOST a shade off pure snow white. Compared to the basic polyester free white belt that comes with it, there is a difference in appearance. LOOKING ONLY at the gi, I think it looks very authentic since it's a natural looking fiber, but don't expect it to look super bleached white (LIKE the white poly belt). Maybe you can brighten the gi yourself by hanging in bright directly in sunlight for a week. ....or risking bleach wash, highly discouraged, may yellow or unravel.
